About the Client
Our client is developing a new-age Electric Vehicle Platform focused on redefining last-mile delivery mobility. The platform is being designed with key priorities in mind — regulatory compliance, optimized ergonomics and dynamics, confident handling, enhanced rider safety, and increased payload capacity — all within a compact footprint similar to current two-wheelers in the market.
Role Overview
The CAD Engineer – Mechanical will play a key role in the design and development of mechanical systems for the client’s electric vehicle platform. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, the role involves close collaboration with suppliers, vendors, manufacturing teams, and testing agencies for the conceptualization and development of chassis, suspension, braking, wheels, and steering systems.
The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of automotive systems and be skilled in creating scalable, flexible designs across multiple products. The position includes participating in system-level requirements analysis, design reviews, cost estimation, and integration of emerging technologies and materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical systems for electric vehicles using 3D CAD tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including suppliers, manufacturers, and test engineers.
- Create and review manufacturing drawings and ensure compliance with GD&T standards.
- Conduct FEA simulations and analyses to validate designs.
- Support design reviews, cost estimation, and system-level requirement analysis.
- Participate in engineering change management and product lifecycle processes.
- Stay updated on new materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes.
- Coordinate with production and supply chain teams to ensure smooth handoff of designs.
- Review customer requirements and ensure compliance with relevant international standards.
- Support testing activities from concept to production, including test planning and validation.
Technical Requirements
- Proficiency in 3D CAD tools – SolidWorks, CATIA, or Solid Edge.
- Experience with FEA simulations and PLM tools (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing drawings, GD&T, and production processes (casting, machining, sheet metal, forging).
- Understanding of automotive structural designs and product development lifecycle.
- Experience handling Engineering Change Requests (ECR) and Engineering Change Processes (ECP).
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
- Solid understanding of automotive product design and testing processes.
- Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving ability.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills across all organizational levels.
