Role Overview:

Tier I Automotive supplier is looking for a highly experienced Lead Engineer – Body-in-White (BIW) to drive the design, development, and launch of BIW systems across vehicle programs. This role involves leading end-to-end engineering efforts, from concept through to production, while ensuring manufacturability, performance, cost-efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

🔹 End-to-End BIW Development:
Lead the entire BIW lifecycle — concept design, feasibility studies, CAD/CAE integration, prototyping, validation, and production readiness.

🔹 Technical Oversight & Documentation:
Own and manage gateway documents, DFMEAs, DVP&R, technical specifications, BOMs, and design risk assessments.

🔹 Effort & Delivery Estimation:
Estimate time and resources for engineering tasks and ensure project delivery aligns with timelines and quality benchmarks.

🔹 Customer Interaction & Issue Resolution:
Serve as the key contact for customer interactions on operational and design issues; ensure expectations are met or exceeded.

🔹 Project & Delivery Management:
Plan project deliverables, assign tasks, track progress, manage scope and schedule, and maintain high-quality output as per customer and internal standards.

🔹 Team Leadership & Mentorship:
Coach and guide junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and continuous technical improvement.

🔹 Materials & Manufacturing Strategy:
Evaluate and select materials (high-strength steel, aluminum, composites); optimize for weight, cost, and manufacturability, with strong knowledge in welding, stamping, bonding, and robotic automation.

🔹 Cost & Weight Management:
Maintain strict control over part weight and cost throughout the design and release phases. Lead cost engineering efforts.

🔹 Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with internal teams (CAE, manufacturing, NVH/crash, supply chain) and external suppliers to deliver first-time-right quality and timely program execution.

Qualifications & Experience:

🎓 Education:

• BE in Mechanical/Automotive or relevant field – Minimum 10 years’ experience
• Location: Pune. India
• Software: CATIA, NX, Any CAE
